West Memphis Clarion welcomes Mississippi River Monster’s anglers
Southern hospitality at its best
Southern hospitality, in pure and simple terms means, “making quests happy.” Mississippi River Monsters (MRM) tournament anglers will experience some of that southern hospitality when they come to Memphis in September if they are staying at the Clarion.
In its second year, MRM will once again attract catfish anglers from all over the county to the Memphis area. In addition to each team there will be family, sponsors and spectators needing a convenient place to stay.
Just across the river from the launch site on Mud Island is West Memphis Arkansas, and a hotel chomping at the bit to see the catfish anglers back for round two. Location could not be more convenient. Driving time to the launch site and related attractions are measured in minutes.
Depending on traffic, it is about 10 minutes to Beale Street; five minutes to Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid, (the weigh-in site); and about 15 minutes to the ramp on Mud Island. There are easy on and off ramps, in either direction, right at the hotel and in Memphis.
The Clarion Hotel in West Memphis rolled out the red carpet last year and they plan to do it again, only with more amenities for the anglers, friends, and family.
The hotel plans extra security this year. They will have one patrol in the back parking lot and one in the front parking lot. Everybody will have an assigned parking space that will be theirs for the entire length of the tournament. A combination of angler provided generators and electric lines, ran by the hotel, will accommodate battery charging.
Anglers that stayed at the Clarion last year will remember the great home cooked breakfast and the southern hospitality of Nona Little and her daughters. They took care of the breakfast crowd in the best possible way.
Additionally, on tournament day, the hotel will do a Grab-n-Go breakfast so the anglers can get out early and still get breakfast. Brown bag breakfasts will be made up for easy pickup on the way out of the hotel in the morning.
“It is one of the greatest places we stay,” said Catfish Weekly’s Lyle Stokes. “Cindy and I travel to a lot to tournaments, we go a lot of places. I was so impressed with the service last year.” (As a side note, Catfish Weekly is working on a special broadcast from the hotel. Stay tuned to the Catfish Weekly Facebook page for details.)
